The orchards in our area are hillsides of flower in the spring. Even in late winter as they start to flow with energy the colors are subtle yet beautiful. For a couple years I have struggled with this beauty! How to portray it, without going for the obvious. When I tell you the hillsides are PINK and the mountains are not purple but PURPLE and the Blue Ridge behind them is BLUE like ultramarine blue - they really are. Cannot compete with nature's display. Won't try.
Book illustrations from about a hundred years ago, with a bit of Art Nouveau, are inspiration for this poster. Like travel posters from the 1930s, my work feels comfortable in their company.
