Popular belief is that a venue such as this calls for a standard, traditional kind of image. Yet I am beginning to think that the generations that have come up in a sophisticated media environment are more contemporary in their tastes. Mid-century modern is a decor style that has had real staying power, and a cleaner more minimal esthetic has taken hold. The jockey silks poster and mug in the blog entry below are an example of this more graphic cleaner look. At the same time, the rough, the hand-hewn is welcome in the all too slick, cleverly curated visual diet we all take in in this digital age. So I am seriously thinking of going with this poster image for the race in a couple weeks. Thoughts?
